You are beginning a journey, a short 28-day journey, that if continued may impact the rest of your life. FULFILLED is one way that everyday living can affect eternal life.
In this devotional, you have the opportunity to grow closer in your relationships, strengthen your resolves, heal your hurts and deepen your faith. You can learn of timeless truths, enduring values and unfading promises.
As you take your first steps, know that the Lord as well as your brothers and sisters at Fox River have been praying for you fervently. Know that God has gone before you, is ready and willing to walk with you, and guards behind you as well.
You are prayed for! Let’s join together in prayer now:
Father, speak to me, I’m listening. When you speak, I am changed. Please, change me from the inside-out. Give me a taste for You and a hunger for Your Word. Slow me down and with quiet patience let me hear You. Lead me in a closer, loving relationship with You as well as believers and non-believers alike.
In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Prophecy -> Fulfillment
Biblical prophecy is simply this: God foretelling the future. God does this to show that He is God and to gracefully build our faith. In the pages that follow, you will see a basic pattern of: prophecy given, prophecy FULFILLED. Although diving into prophecy may seem a bit daunting, take comfort in the love of Christ. Focus on growing closer to God. Dig deeper and search the treasures of God so that you might not only know God… but know Him more. God promises that if you seek Him, you will find Him.
God’s words stir the human heart to action. Meaning, application of your faith is critically important. James wrote that faith by itself is dead if it has no works (James 2:17). Let’s put our faith into action, together. Action steps are provided for some of the days each week. Please take the time to reflect on them in prayer and act on them in boldness.
Lastly, you may notice a common thread throughout our 28 days: the beautiful passage of Philippians 2:5-11. During these next four weeks, let’s do our best to commit the richness of the words of these verses to memory:
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11
