Luke 11:1-4
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’”
Devotional:
Here we find the most often prayed prayer of our faith.
It is Jesus’ prayer primer, His model for us in prayer.
Even for those of us who might self-identify as ‘prayer wimps’, this is a prayer that helps us to connect with our Heavenly Father. Today, slowly and sincerely pray the Lord’s Prayer (see today’s verses).
When you have finished, pray it again using the simple prayer version of it here:
Father,
I trust you.
Help me.
Help them.
Forgive.
Thank you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now take a moment and add the specifics of your life after each phrase of the prayer.
Wow, that was quite a prayer session wasn’t it (especially for us ‘prayer wimps’)?
