Philippians 2:5-7

Prophecy FULFILLED: In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Devotional:

The Holy Spirit reminds us–in Paul’s words to the church in Philippi–that Jesus is God, Jesus is human and that He came to save. According to Hebrews chapter two, King Jesus was made human and chose to serve so that He might taste death, make atonement, and become our merciful and faithful high priest. Let us rejoice; Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise of Genesis 3:15!

God’s prophetic promise has come true–Jesus has crushed the head of Satan by dying on the cross and resurrecting on Easter. Biblical prophecy demonstrates that God tells the truth and that He is faithful. Biblical prophecy shows us that God is powerful and willing to save. He uses prophecy to get our attention. And once He has our attention, God seeks to turn our heart toward Him–that He would restore our relationship with Him. That we might experience the fullness of joy in His presence (Psalm 16:11) and worship Him with our lives (Romans 12:1).

He wants you to know something: He cares. He became a man and paid a high price that you might know Him… and know Him more. He wants you to see and embrace that He has made a way (through the good news of Jesus Christ) for you to be close to Him. By His grace, draw near to God today; He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

Action:

Today, be on the lookout to care for someone the way Christ cares for us. It may be something small, or something inconvenient, but listen to the Holy Spirit. Take note of how God worked through you.
