Romans 12:1-2a – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

God has saved us from our sins, filled us with the Holy Spirit, adopted us as His own, and given us eternal life so that we can live with Him forever. As a result, He expects us to step away from our old ways of living and begin walking as people who represent Him. God desires for us to think and act as He does; to change and conform to His way of doing things. But the only way that can happen is by spending daily time in prayer and in reading God’s Word. We must first understand who God is and how He thinks so that we can join Him in His transformation of us.

Being a follower of Christ means becoming different from the world around us. It’s not always easy, but it is necessary. When we consider all that God has done for us (i.e. “the mercies of God”), we find comfort–and joy–in the transformation. Realize, it is alright to be a little different; God is calling us to be more and more like Him!

Prayer Topic:

Lord, as we seek Your Truth, help us to know You with greater intimacy. Continually transformed into Your glorious image Lord, by knowing You and knowing You more. Father, guard our hearts against returning to the things You delivered us from. Lord, instead may we be characterized as worshipers of You; those who have devoted themselves to You and to Your ways. May we live as we are called, “Christians”, Christ-like ones. It is in the precious name of Christ we pray, Amen.
