Psalm 34:1-10

I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Devotional:

Today, my wife and I celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. There have been innumerable good times. There have been some tough times as well. Yet, God has provided us sufficient grace and proven Himself faithful… over and over again. My wife and I praise Jesus for all He has done (and is doing) in our marriage. We thank Him for the opportunities He has given for us to walk with Him – showing the love of Jesus to each other, our children, and those around us. He has allowed us to share the name of Jesus Christ with so many people over the years. When we take a few minutes to look back and appreciate all the times that we have called out to Him and He’s heard and answered, we are reminded of His goodness. We have tasted and seen that the Lord is good.

Take a few minutes right now, to look back. Seriously, stop reading for the next 60 seconds; ask God to help you see how good He has been to you. Celebrate how God has preserved you. Appreciate how He has provided for you. Thank Him for His faithfulness and relentless pursuit for your full heart.

Now, shift your focus to the present. Thank Him; for His continuing goodness, unchanging character, unfailing love, and abundant grace. Praise, exalt, honor, and extol Him in this simple prayer throughout your entire day; for indeed you lack no good thing.

Lord, I have tasted and seen that You are good.

You will continue to provide Your goodness to me.

May Your praise always be on my lips.
