Hebrews 4:14-16

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Devotional:

Some reading this are hiding from God. You love God. You love Jesus. But you’ve fallen for the devil’s deceptions, temptations, and traps. Satan wants us to feel like we can’t come back to Jesus, like we’re separated from Jesus – Satan lies! Reading these verses, and others like it (such as Hebrews 2:17-18), we see the truth that Jesus suffered the same temptations that we do, and He did so to help us! It isn’t a surprise to Jesus that we’re tempted or that we sometimes fall for Satan’s deceptions. Jesus wants to help you! Jesus is for us. Jesus knows what you are going through and is helping you now. He is ready to help you more. Today, pray with expectation, ‘holding firmly’ that the same Jesus that died for your sins will help you overcome them! God supplies you with more mercy and more grace whenever you ask for it. Ask! Pray!
